Special notes — Ceremonial Day
Day 20 has a different structure from all other days. The asana practice is lighter (~35 min) — every phase represented, no new pushes. The second half of the session is ceremony: photos, gift, blessing.
Assemble the card the evening before or the morning before the session — not during class. The card should be complete:
- Four Day-1 / Day-20 photo pairs side by side
- Janki's handwritten observations — 3–4 sentences, specific and honest
- The Gayatri Mantra written in closing
See the completion gift card template → for the format and layout.
Remind Shivangi once, gently — before or after the gift presentation — to write her end-of-phase-4 reflection in her workbook: one thing I noticed this phase.
Sequence (60 minutes — modified)
Today's timing is different from all other days. The sequence below is the full ceremonial arc.
| Time | Segment | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| 0:00–2:00 | Gayatri Mantra | Sung together — let it land |
| 2:00–8:00 | Sukshma vyayam | Brief: neck rolls → shoulder rolls → wrist rotations → hip circles → cat–cow (4 rounds) |
| 8:00–35:00 | Asana practice | See below — lighter, integrative (~27 min) |
| 35:00–50:00 | Photo session | Four poses — same as Day 1: butterfly, paschimottanasan, sarvangasan, shirshasan attempt. Janki photographs. Shivangi does not handle the camera. |
| 50:00–55:00 | Completion gift presentation | Janki gives the assembled card. Reads the personal note aloud or offers it silently — Janki's instinct. Pause. Let it be received. Gift card template → |
| 55:00–60:00 | Final blessing + closing | Gayatri Mantra sung together, or Janki's closing prayer — end in silence, one last breath together |
Asana sequence (8:00–35:00 — integrative, lighter holds)
| # | Pose | Sanskrit | Detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Butterfly | Baddha konasana | 5 breaths — arrive |
| 2 | Cat–cow | Marjari–bitilasana | 5 rounds — spine wakes |
| 3 | Downward dog | Adho mukha svanasana | 5 breaths |
| 4 | Plank | Phalakasana | ~30 seconds |
| 5 | Dolphin pose | Ardha pincha mayurasana | 6 breaths — runway, as always |
| 6 | Child's pose | Balasana | 5 breaths |
| 7 | Wall shirshasan (or free if earned) | Salamba shirshasan | 8–10 breaths — the culminating inversion; quality over time; come down slowly |
| 8 | Child's pose | Balasana | 6 full breaths — mandatory |
| 9 | Sarvangasan | Salamba sarvangasana | 8 breaths — shoulders settled |
| 10 | Halasana | Halasana | 6 breaths |
| 11 | Setu bandhasan | Setu bandhasana | 5 breaths |
| 12 | Akarna dhanurasan (right + left) | Akarna dhanurasana | 5 breaths each side |
| 13 | Matsyendrasan (right + left) | Ardha matsyendrasana | 4 breaths each side |
| 14 | Bow pose | Dhanurasana | 4 breaths |
| 15 | Paschimottanasan | Paschimottanasana | 6 breaths — the spine settles for what comes next |
| 16 | Butterfly | Baddha konasana | 5 breaths — close the asana practice |
Note on pranayama: Day 20's modified timing removes the dedicated pranayama block. Janki may weave one or two rounds of bhramari into savasana, or into the closing blessing — or let the silence be the pranayama. This is Janki's call.
Janki's notebook prompt
One honest final reading: name one specific physical change and one quality-of-presence change you observed across 20 days. These two lines are for Janki, not for the gift card — they inform phase 2.
The journey continues.
